For my mum’s birthday in February we brought her to a place that made her raise her eyebrows. It was called TWG which stands for The Wellness Group and it’s a very posh French style place with teas from all over the world. My mum never likes to have anyone spend any money on her and that’s why she was stunned to see the menu and prices. Luckily we persuaded her to stay, by selling it as a one time only experience.
Most women in Singapore love pretty cosy places where you can chat for hours over tea. There are many places that serve high tea in Singapore but this places stands out with its luxurious decor and all glass facade. Also this salon opens till 10pm while most high tea places are located in hotels and close by 6pm.
There seemed to be hundreds and hundreds of teas on the menu and our heads were spinning with choices from India, Ceylon, Nepal, China… and subdivided into regions and types. In the end we let the tea specialists dressed very smartly in white, including white ties, make some recommendations. What I remember was the best macaroon I have ever had. It was caramel flavored and melted in my mouth. The lemon tart had the perfect lemony tanginess to it. Just thinking about the pastries and the tea makes me slightly faint with the memory of the decadance.
You know this is a Singapore start up? It’s amazing how the company has grown in just a few years.
