If I had a last meal it would include claypot laksa (it’s a last meal and I intend to be gluttonous to the extreme). This super calorie rich white noodles with coconut curry is beyond delicious. It is garnished with shredded mint leaves and has loads of tender shredded chicken and slices of fish cake. Prawn is added too. I love the tofu they add which is divine after soaking up the gravy, and I always opt to not have the cockles (since I haven’t acquired the taste for raw seafood).
I can’t rave enough about it. After I had the Zhen Shan Mei Claypot Laksa nothing else would do. Other laksas paled in comparison. They were too insipid or diluted for me.
I hope the photo I took does the dish justice because it’s hard to capture its orgasmic quality in a photo. I wish WordPress had a lick the screen function where you could taste it or at least a scratch and sniff where you could be tempted by the wonderful aroma of it’s curried coconut cream broth. B couldn’t take the spice factor. Actually you don’t need the extra portion of chilli sambal. It’s hot enough as it is. Also it comes in three sizes – small, medium and large. We had the medium and it cost S$4.50 Singapore dollars. It was worth every cent. Add or minus dollar for the other sizes.
It used to be known as Depot Road laksa as that was its original location. Now the son runs the stall at a coffee shop called ‘Fine Taste Eating House’ at Block 119, as the Alexandra Village Food Centre undergoes renovation till December this year. I am not sure if their new location is temporary or permanent.

This sounds totally fabulous! It’s chilly and rainy where I am – perfect laksa weather 🙂
I love cold weather. I hear it’s a very early winter in Australia this year? My cousin tells me it’s 6 degrees in Perth.
Surprisingly it’s a drizzly cool june in Singapore today..wish it could remain like this always 🙂
