Return Visit to Arbite for the Best Freshly Made Ice Lemon Tea Ever

I am starting to like this little cafe in the remote Serangoon Garden area a lot. This quaint residential estate is fast becoming the next Holland Village which is Singapore’s original hangout for expats. The Australian and French schools are nearby and I often hear people speaking in French when I am in this area. It’s almost impossible to get parking here after 7pm as this place is quite a food hub with people coming from all areas of this little island. That can be quite frustrating.

Arbite has a very charming young owner and you can see he is very dedicated in making sure you enjoy your meal. The Arbite website reveals that they even check the plates to see if you have cleared your plate and if not, they do some investigation into why and tweak their recipes. More owners should be that passionate. They were recently featured in 8 Days which highly recommended their Fruit Terrine which I have yet to try.

I also love that they have a little cosy nook with Ikea furniture and even a little rocking chair, with tons of lovely Design magazines as well as National Geographic which you can read at leisure over coffee and cake. That’s what we had for dessert. Actually we had the best in the world ice lemon tea (S$3) and A had an espresso (only S$2.50) which was the high quality stuff with a thick layer of crema. We shared the chocolate cake which came with ice-cream. It’s called My Wife’s Chocolate Cake and is S$8. You have to be in the mood for goey richness. I think my sister will love this.

I tried the Panfried Chicken Roulade (a little expensive at S$15.90) for the main meal this time and again I loved the fluffy mashed potatoes the most. If only they served just the mashed potatoes, I would definitely order it as a side. I also wish they would serve breakfast daily. I think it would be a big hit. I have yet to try their weekend breakfast but I am sure it’ll be a of high quality. I am hoping the Arbite owners see this post and are motivated to do the daily breakfast. I even wished that McDonalds would do the same. It’s a pity when you can’t get hotcakes just because you overslept as they stopped serving them at 11.30am. I also love their egg mcmuffins, but I digress. Here are the photos I snapped, so you can tell why I gravitate to this place.

The Cafe has an offical website

I did an earlier review of Arbite, in June when it first opened, which contains the address and other details, which you can check out.
