Bakerzin at UE Square

Once I confused United Square for UE Square and didn’t realize they were two different places. As we were walking around looking for a decent place to eat, I decided on the Bakerzin even though my partner would have preferred Delifrance.

The Ham and Cheese bruschetta here, exceeded my expectations. I thought a bruschetta would be a tiny little thing and not the substantial meal I got. I didn’t expect a poached egg on top and this reminded me of croque madame. It was good. But then again, anything with melted cheese is great in my book. Sure, I would have this again if I revisit Bakerzin.

The All Day Set cost S$13.80 which included a penne with cream sauce (B did not enjoy it as he prefers handmade pasta and this tasted highly processed) and an iced lemon tea. He did like my bruschetta though, but that alone cost S$9.80. I just had iced water (there’s a free flow). With service charge and taxes the bill came to S$27.80.

I liked the tomato soup because I have a child’s taste buds but it’s rather sweet and tasted a bit like Prego’s spaghetti sauce.

The great thing is the free flow of bread which I love with olive oil and balsamic vinegar.

The place was really noisy and the waitresses looked annoyed and harrassed, with a kiddie party going on. I’ve been here before for just a cup of coffee when it was quiet and empty. That was really pleasant.

  1. Yummy! Looks great. They say you can judge a restaurant by their bread and that bread certainly looks appetizing. I love the full coverage you give to all of your stories, with addresses, hours, prices and reviews. I don’t know how you find the time to blog daily! I usually only blog once or twice a week! Thanks for your hard work.

Thanks once again Julie. I really do appreciate your kind and encouraging comments. I just blog whenever the whim strikes me. At the moment it strikes me a lot. I figure I might as well record as much data as I can while I am motivated. In a way it’s like a journal for me of places I have visited, so if I ever lose a copy of my photos at least I have it stored on my blog 🙂 Mostly I provide all the information because when I wanna go somewhere I only look at other non professional bloggers. They give me the best and most captivating information.

  2. Mmm this food looks delicious! Too bad I’m not anywhere near Singapore, haha. But I’m such a sucker for great bread…the bread basket is the one thing I always look forward too when we go out to eat.

Haven’t been to Bakerzin for a long time! From your fotos, looks like they’ve gone slightly atas with the plating, with olive oil and balsamic vinegar to boot!
