I love the local style Fish and Chips at Borsch Steakhouse, a restaurant that has not had a makeover since the 70’s. It’s what I call accidentally charming. It costs S$9.80 which is pretty expensive, but they are generous with the tartar sauce – most places are so stingy with it. I did not care for the boiled cabbage though.
We also tried the Fried Rice (S$6) and that was pretty good too. What is great is that the food is always prepared fresh and comes to your table piping hot.
My only complaint was the coffee was a tad too bitter, but it’s not necessary to order drinks as water is provided. I must say another great thing about this place are the older servers who are very nice and friendly.
Vintage placemats which have probably been used since the 70’s.
Old style chilli (ketchup with chilli) and tomato sauce (ketchup) brand too.
…and ONCE AGAIN, you make my stomach growl and wish I could book my tickets today for Singapore! Gotta get that book deal first….
You are an incredible asset to Singapore.
thanks LD….that makes me so happy!! Hope this makes up for all the times I grumble about the country 🙂
Looks good! I want to try it out!
This is not exactly like the beer battered fish and chips I love, but if you’re hankering for local style where the fish is thinner and crispier you might like this. The meal doesn’t leave you feeling too full either. Usually when I have the former I get 2 huge pieces and can usually only finish one.
