#54. Dum Briyani at Yakader and Teh Alia

Nasi Briyani is an Indian Muslim Rice Dish.  I love the Dum Briyani version at Yakader best. A wonderful meal that hits the spot for just S$4.50. The chicken is succulent and tender (although my partner felt it was much better during our last visit), but the thing I go for is the divine rice which is marinated overnight and cooked in between the basmati rice and various spices at just the right temperature.  It’s beyond delicious when you add the thalchar to the mix which is a special dhall type curry made specially to go with Briyani.

Yakader is a little stall in Tekka Market in Little India.  Just look out for the sign and the man dishing out rice from a humongous aluminium container.  There are a few other competitors, but this is hands down my top pick.  Since I am into counting calories, I would say once you’ve had this and your teh alia (ginger tea) you’re about done with your calorie intake for the day.  Perhaps just fruit for dinner!  I must say that the teh alia at the stall beside Yakader was excellent.
