You are My Sunshine

Lost my cousin recently and I sang this song softly to him when I was deeply missing him, but couldn’t continue each time, because it always choked me up.  When I think of him, I think of yellow and the sunshine – truly.  He made us laugh all the time.  He was quite the prankster.  The song reminds me so much of him because he never ever got angry and had the sweetest personality of anyone I have ever known.  He didn’t let any of his medical problems (and he had a lot) hold him back in any way and he was truly the sunshine to me and the rest of the family. I am certain of that.

Found this Anne Murray song on Youtube.  There’s another version by Elizabeth Mitchell (of Lost!) and that doesn’t include the bit about the devil which is a bit of a downer in an innocent child like song I otherwise love.

Wow, I’ve never heard the entire song before and didn’t know about the devil part.

I’m so sorry you lost your cousin. It seems like you enjoyed the time you spent together so I hope you have lots of good memories to hold close.

Sorry for your lost. And this song really made me cried in the middle of the week. I know how you feel when you listen to it.

    Cheers up!
