Mid-Autumn Festival 2010: Streets of Chinatown

I have never seen the Mid-Autumn Festival done on such a grand scale before. It must be because of our million tourists, but I like it as well.

I was thinking it would be much prettier here at night when the streets are all lit up, but we were not prepared to be jostled by the crowds. I am starting to get a flu too.  It must be the weather – sweltering hot for the past 2 days and today it pours.  I also got a bit wet in the rain.

Anyway I digress…If you’re a tourist here, it would be be great time to soak in the atmosphere.  A bit like going to Germany during Oktoberfest?

Red is the main colour in Chinatown -it’s lucky.

Tourists seemed excited by the unfamiliar and captivating sights – exactly why I find travel so enthralling myself.

If you get this, you will be marked as a tourist. A bit like wearing sneakers in Paris.

Most traditional kind of lanterns on sale too, but these days people seem to like the pink olive shaped ones.

I prefer dining in the open air at food street over the Chinatown market which can get too hot and steamy for me.

An old man buying a traditional type icecream which is a rectangular block encased with 2 wafers. Looks like it’s sweet corn flavoured – yum.

  1. These pictures are so cute. You should pick out some of your favorite items, check if they are available on Amazone.com and then you can have an Amazon recommendations page for your blog followers to buy. It’s just a thought. I haven’t checked if anyone has ever bought anything from my store, but I like having one just the same. Here is the link.
