Halloween in Singapore Sucks

Halloween in Singapore seems to be confined to small areas of supermarkets where they sell the masks and decorations. I wish it was bigger, like what I saw in Osaka. It’s actually quite pathetic. I know it’s totally commercial and everything, but it’s just a fun holiday and marketers could do so much more with it.

At Cold Storage (you can get gourmet stuff that you can’t find at NTUC)

At NTUC (the supermarket which is subsidized by the government and everything’s cheaper but there’s less variety)

The Daiso at ION Orchard in Singapore did a much better job with the decorations.

As an American. Scratch that…as someone who lived an hour from Salem, Massachusetts (ground zero for Halloween crazy times)…you are SO RIGHT. This lack of Halloween here is killing me (as are the lack of my favored candies.)

Luckily E’s birthday is the week after Halloween so we made her Elmo Party an Elmo/Halloween party.

Halloween is exactly a week after my birthday, so I grew up having Halloween parties, too. I loved trick or treating. Even now, it’s a favorite holiday.

It just kills me not to take her trick or treating this year. Maybe in the future we’ll arrange to be in the US when she’s like 4 or 5 so she gets the wonderful experience of knocking on people’s doors and getting candy.

One day I will visit an actual pumpkin patch….it looks like so much fun 🙂 Cool you’re a Scorpio…so am I. I think that’s why I love Halloween too, besides that it’s an amazing hol.

My friend stays in a Condo and every halloween, the kids do go around knocking on doors. I think the best Halloween party is at the Night Safari though. No trick or treating but lots of ghosts and ghouls to scare you there.
