I would let the pictures do the talking, but my photo taking skills are not that great. The lighting was bad and everyone was eager to dig in and I didn’t want to hold them up.
I would recommend practically all the items, especially the Peking Duck, Fish, the Custard Prawns. It’s a great place for a family dinner where if you have a very large group of more than 12 and spend S$600 you get a huge private room. If you’re here for an meal with your significant other or a close friend, they have the most cosy intimate booths where you can eat and chat at leisure. It was my uncle’s early birthday dinner so my sister got this amazing raspberry chocolate cake. For me the raspberry topping was the best part.
The service was impeccable and very welcoming. Although the surroundings were uppity, truly fine-dining, the service staff treated us warmly and not in an ‘Atas’ (cold and snooty) manner at all. I really liked that.
The restaurant was very cold, but they will provide you with shawls if you did not bring your own. After a while it feels warmer, especially once you start eating.
Cold dish – an appetizer I didn’t quite care for but everyone seemed to like it.
Peking Duck – this is the first time I’ve seen a whole duck. Felt a bit guilty.
Temporary amnesia as the intense flavours hit, combined with crepe, celery and plum sauce. Definitely the best I’ve had and you’re left wanting more.
Asparagus with crab meat.
Another top notch dish – custard fried de-shelled prawn with chilli pepper. Another item I would definitely have again and which everyone seemed to love as well.
Buttery cod which was the most expensive item on the menu as we all got individual servings (S$18 on the menu before taxes).
Coffee pork ribs – always a favourite.
The crab meat fried rice was divine and by then we were quite full as for once we had a long leisurely meal. I think we tend to eat too fast and I think the French have got it right with their 3 hour long meals. No wonder French women don’t get fat.
The Raspberry Chocolate cake was the dessert. Wish it was all cake with no mousse though. Don’t quite care for mousse as I find it too cloying, but to be fair it was not as sweet as most cakes are.
And everyone requested for seconds.
