We do have swamps in Singapore. Really. The whole of Singapore used to be swamp land. Can you imagine? One of these is Sungei Buloh, a wetland reserve which we explored last year and sadly haven’t been back since. We’ve been kinda lazy and I put my pedometer to rest and have been exercising my jaws more than my legs lately.
We must get back to the time when our spirits were adventurous and we explored all parts of Singapore we wouldn’t normally explore. I mean nature and not malls. And it was fun although being chicken I was scared when I saw signs saying to be careful of crocodiles – yikes! We didn’t get our toes bitten by any, but we did come across a komodo dragon.
Here are the photos I took last year, and I hope to stir some of that nature seeking spirit in me, by blogging about it.
Somehow whenever I am with nature I feel like I am truly living. I like the excitement of a city, but I love nature a whole lot more. Isn’t it mind boggling to think that 200 years ago Singapore was just all swamp land, a bit like what you would have seen on that Johnny Depp movie Pirates of the Carribean – At World’s End? I am just imagining. Well, not as spooky I think.

Very nice pictures!!
Thank you 🙂
I love Sungei Buloh! Did you find it very humid there even though it’s pretty shady? Did you climb up the Aerie?
I recall that it was a pretty humid day. What’s that? I must check it out if I go again….sounds strenuous though.
