We were back at Freshness Burger for Japanese style burgers made to order.
B would recommend the Spam Burger (S$4.50) after trying the classic Beef Burger and the Bacon Omelette Burger. His only critique was that the luncheon meat should be fried to a crispier state. That’s how we both remember it from childhood. Luncheon meat wrapped in fluffy white bread for lunch.
My criticism (hopefully constructive) is that the burger cools down quite a bit when it’s delivered to me. I wonder why, since they are freshly made. Perhaps it’s the air-conditioning? Or have they been sitting there for too long and not picked up in time by the servers? But they do seem quite prompt. Anyway, I would recommend the Chicken Teriyaki as well as the Spam burger. I would say, avoid the fish burger. McDonald’s does it better.
Just be careful when eating the spam burger as it comes with an egg sunny side up on top. When you bite into it the delicious yolk runs and it can get messy.
But you know what my top pick of the menu is? Not the burgers but the beverages. I really love the hot cocoa and iced cocoa here. It is the best I’ve had. They use real cocoa and real whipped cream. I’m quite certain, not the kind from a can. Since the small is too small, I got the medium this time, which was just right.
Chicken nuggets (S$4.90) are pretty good. Tastes similar to MOS burger.
They have fresh flowers each time. So pretty.
The stirrers come with little messages which is a cute touch.
Just look at that fresh whipped cream. It was lovely slowly sipping the hot cocoa (S$5.00 for tall which is the medium size).
We also tried the kiwi mixer which has real kiwi fruit blended in it. (S$4.90 and it only comes in tall size)
The hot version of the Orange Tea is a good option if you don’t like sweet drinks, but it’s S$5.50 (tall). It’s basically tea with a slice of orange though.
B also tried the Bacon Omlette Burger which a food reviewer in the Straits Times said was the best burger here. I guess everyone has their own faves.
There’s also the Tofu burger for Vegetarians.
Freshness Burger is hidden in Basement 2 of Nex Mall in Serangoon. Take the escalator down from Yoshinoya. It’s near Cold Storage and next to Barcelos. I think once the shutter that seems to link the mall to Serangoon MRT opens, this place will be super crowded.

Very nice post and pictures of the food
thanks so much! 🙂
Haha on 1st instinct, Spam burger sounds like something nasty forced upon you, but then I realise it’s the luncheon meat thingy. What’s japanese about it though?
actually the most japanese thing is the mayo I guess (the sweet kind)
