This Malaysia Railway station will soon fall into Singapore hands. I am curious about how they will preserve it, but I would be sad if the nature of the stalls or stall owners change. There is a certain charm about the hot, dusty, griminess of this place. Prata in air-conditioning would just be wrong. This is a last chance to capture the beauty of the old architecture and to savour eating by the railway tracks.
The goreng pisang (bananas coated in batter and deep fried) were so good. Just like what you would find in Malaysia. Just a dollar for all this.
It’s sad to think that affordable prices and the fantastic Malay and Indian Muslim food served here, will be no more, as heavy rentals will drive the current food stall holders out.
I bet cheap parking will also be a thing of the past.
is that drink godzilla milo? I drank that last time I was in Singapore at a prata/roti stand at upper thompson…my potential new neighborhood when I officially move to singapore in Sept
hahaha it was a smaller version..the milo dinosaur. Upper Thomson is a great area…very close to town too.
Yes! I love Tanjong Pagar railway station. Feels like being in Malaysia in the middle of SG. Feels like? It actually IS Malaysia in the heart of Singapore… though not for long any more.
Oh yes….apart from the fact that we don’t use Ringgit to buy the food it’s Malaysia still. Kinda nice to travel to Malaysia without a passport 🙂
