I’ve been to the Big Easy and the Chili’s (American) restaurants there.

Having been to New Orleans (after London and New York, it’s my favorite city in the world and I was planning to move there prior to meeting my husband) many times I can say without doubt that it’s a pale imitation of what REAL N’awlin’s food should taste like. However, it also falls into the “not terrible Western food” category for us, and is on the list of places we might eat if we were there and tired of Chili’s.

It’s worth noting that Chili’s is one of the very few American chains that gets it right. It tastes as good (possibly better, if you can believe that) than the food in the US does. It’s high on my list of places to eat when I want a dose of American food (or some hot and fried chips–not fries, corn chips)

It’s really great to have your insight. Thanks for sharing your expertise. I do like Chili’s compared to the other chains. I didn’t even know there were corn chips on the menu – I must check that out.

I have heard that McDonald’s in Singapore tastes better and has better service, from people who have lived in the US, and I often found that really hard to believe.

sorry, nacho chips?, not corn chips. My brain broke a bit there. It’s a corn base and then they’re fried to be crispy and hot, which is why I think they’re corn chips.

I disagree strongly that McDonald’s is better in Singapore. I’ve had my order messed up, and often get cold food here. And I never thought it was even possible, but I’ve had piping hot fries that tasted bad here.

I think it depends on whether you’re from an urban or suburban area of the US. In urban areas, you often have counter people who don’t necessarily speak English well (sometimes an issue here), but in the more suburban, it’s usually local kids working there after school. I worked at a competitor of subway rather than McD’s as my first job, but it’s a frequent one.

Ravi likes that the apple pies are fried here, while I miss the baked apple pies back home.

My biggest issue with McDonalds is the portions here. There are no “mighty kids meals” with 6 nuggets or a larger drink. There’s also a 9/10 nugget meal back home…and the baseline soda size is a medium, not a small as it is here. When you upsize back home, you get the largest drink and a larger fry instead of just a larger drink and the same medium fry.

        I do, however, love McDelivery.

ooo yes I love nachos. Yeah that’s what I figured..the best McDonald’s I had was in London years and years ago strangely. They had the lovliest hot cocoa too.

I think baked apple pie is nicer too, but the fried one can be quite addictive.
