#77. Never Feeling Homesick

Whenever I read the posts of my expat blogger friends, I realize that not only do they have to contend with adapting to a new culture they also have to deal with home sickness.

Because I am really close to my family, I would miss them terribly if I am away for too long.  That’s why never feeling homesick is a great reason for me to be happy in Singapore.  This one is for all the locals out there who are yearning to migrate (perhaps just to get a feeling of more space and to escape the heat and the rat race), but just can’t in the end because they realize that would miss their loved ones too much.

I was telling another blogger: I think what makes it a *bit* easier
for me is that we’ve always had family “away.” We always knew how to stay connected even though we are all scattered all over the globe (US, London, India, Dubai, Australia, Singapore, etc.). In other words, me being an ‘expat’ is nothing new for people in my family.
