Jules Cafe Bar for Great Aussie Food

Was in the north, so explored this little Australian cafe that was recommended by a friend called Jules Cafe and Bar at Jalan Riang. The closest landmark to this place is the new Nex mall and the Lorong Chuan MRT is said to be walking distance away.

The decor here was simple laid back and lovely. The dim lighting, paintings and chandeliers added to the ambience. I saw a couple of Australian customers and that’s indication enough that the Australian food here must be good. I have to add that the young Indian boy serving us was excellent too. I wonder if he is the owner of this place.

What I enjoyed the most from the Mezze appetizer plate was the mushrooms cooked in butter, the salad and even the cured Salmon (I don’t normally go for Salmon, but this was the best I’ve had). I didn’t care for the sun-dried tomatoes, but companions were happy to finish it.

I would order the Chicken Parmigiana again, in a heartbeat.

The lamb cutlets with raita, was good too, but I am not really someone who goes for lamb and I don’t really care for eggplant. But if you like lamb I think you would probably love this.

The brownie with ice-cream was decadently good and we completely wiped the plate. Actually we did that for all the items.

The whole meal came up to S$90 and was shared by 3 persons, so it was about S$30 a head. There’s no service charge here, but you’re asked to tip if you like the service.  I think that’s great.

Iced water is provided but I had the cappuccino just to try out the coffee and the Grinders coffee was strong and good. Real espresso and not the insipid brewed coffee that some places use and I end up disappointed. Happy to report – no disappointment here.
