Middle Eastern Cuisine in Singapore: Cafe Le Caire

I have wanted to have a drink at Cafe Le Caire for the longest time. This famous tourist destination is at 39 Arab Street.

We finally made it here and were tempted by the desserts. On the Cafe Le Caire website they call themselves a restaurant that specializes in Middle East Arabic Culture. They are happy to be the pioneers and reviving the nightlife in Kampong Gelam.

It would have been nice to sit outside for an Al Fresco vibe and people watching, but those seats are popular and were taken.

Loved the tablecloth with the egyptian motif. I’ve never been to Egypt, so this is my closest encounter.

The dessert, Muhalihia, reminded me of North Indian desserts with the rose flavouring and milk elements.

I have to confess I was disappointed that a tea bag was used. Even the premium tea didn’t impress me that much, considering the price. Perhaps I should have tried the Turkish Coffee or the breads. Pity we were too full from the Nasi Padang lunch.
