Impressed by Vincent Wijeysingha’s Compassion and Intelligence

I am not a political blogger, but I just had to post this video of the recent political debate between parties, as I was so very impressed by Vincent, who is a social worker by profession. Didn’t catch the televised debate so I am glad there’s YouTube.

I was not there, but I wanted to applaud him. From the clip I just saw, it was great how the debate between Tharman Shanmugaratnam and Vincent Wijeysingha was decent with no mud slinging. Dignified. This is the way it should be and I would be thrilled for a lot more debate like this, all year round. It’s heartwarming to know we have someone who is the voice of the marginalized. Who actually goes out there, talks to the people and cares. When it comes to civic duty I pale in comparison.

I look for humility in a candidate it’s a quality that is highly underrated in Singapore. Another reason I was impressed. Arrogance totally puts me off.

Since Singapore is now filled with election fever, let me just put this out there. Humility, compassion and kindness gets my vote. What are the values you look for?

That was very insightful 🙂 Learnt so much more about Singapore in that 10 minutes than any books I’ve ever read on your country. I hope there are more people like that too 🙂

Btw, I took your suggestion and posted one entry onto my wordpress account. Do let me know what you think 🙂

I <3 Vincent! He's a great guy and I wish he were contesting in my area because I would vote for him in a heartbeat. He does great work with TWC2 as well.

I'm glad he was at the political forum. I hoped that he would be able to ask harder questions and push harder but there just wasn't any time and that was too bad.

I could see that they kept getting interrupted. Yes definitely too little time. Our country would be so much healthier…with more such debates. I look forward to more.

      He is awesome!

Thanks for this nice post about Vincent. I know him personally (from his time studying at Sheffield, UK), and I am proud to call him my friend. Singapore would be extremely lucky to have such a decent and honourable man representing you in Parliament.
All best wishes from the UK.
