Great Job Preserving Our Old Railways

Happy to hear that the old railways at Tajong Pagar and Bukit Timah will be preserved. I had no idea we had a Preservation of Monuments Board and a total of 64 national monuments, but that’s wonderful. More at the Straits Times.

You can read about my trip to the old railway here, here and here.

Really?!?!?! I am thrilled!! I remember taking the train with my father to Singapore from Malaysia when I was young little girl. And, I didn’t manage to squeeze in time to see it when I was in Singapore. I was still upset about it earlier today, thinking if the building is to be torn down, some of my early memories with my father would be forever gone. But, now, knowing this, I’m so happy! 😀

I took the train once…the other way around….from Singapore to KL maybe…can’t recall where now. But it was magical. Memories with dad…so precious too.

I am glad! What will they do with the building though, not turn it into a modern monstrocity I hope.

Hope the same stall holders remain. I think they are part of the charm and their rental should not be increased.
