Tom Hanks Spoofs Toddlers & Tiaras on Jimmy Kimmel

This is 3 months old, but I just watched it and it’s hilarious.

Not very absurd if you watch the actual thing. Quite horrifying that it’s not a stretch what’s happening out there.

All I can think of is creepy, creepy, creepy. Especially that guy reading out the girls’ names. Who ever came up with all the rules for this competition? It’s so abnormal.

They are creating potential teenaged nightmares. MacKenzie’s back.

This looks like a spoof but it isn’t! It’s real. What a nightmare of a mum.

  1. Had never seen that spoof! That is priceless!

  2. LL says:

Wow, I love Tom Hanks even more.

      me too….love him 🙂

      • LL says:

Showed my friend who was also part of this pageant madness as a kid (she also lived right next to Sylmar, CA – next to Tom Hanks! haha 🙂 ). She also thought it was hilarious. I remember when I’d visit her, I would trip over several trophies or knock over tiaras; the house was so over cluttered with them and I think there were a few in the backyard too.

      • LL says:

She just laughs and says she’s tried to forget that part of her childhood, haha. She’s all grown up and married now (we’re the same age, but I’m not grown up or married, haha) so I guess she’s adjusted well enough.

I’ve been there when she’s tried to tell her mom that she was brainwashed as a kid into loving beauty pageants but her mom was just confused as to why/how. I guess some people just never see it.

  3. Crystal says:

I find toddlers and tiaras (and “baby/child beauty pageants” in general) to be borderline child abuse.

That spoof is awesome but at the same time it brings up the issue of how sexualised child beauty pageants have become in this day and age as well as highlighting the issue of pageant parents from hell. Try watching Little Miss Sunshine. And yeah, recently the Australians kicked up a fuss when Melbourne tried to allow child beauty pageants to happen (was in the news a few months ago).

    • bookjunkie says:

a good thing people kicked up a fuss. Makes me wonder if we have something similar in Singapore. Never quite thought about it.

      • whatsaysyou says:

I hope from the bottom of my heart that the whole sexualisation of kids craze does not reach into the Asian region. As members of society, we are the ones who play the role in keeping kids innocent and let them be kids.
