The last time I was here, TWG was just under construction. It’s now up, looking so pretty and luxurious. What a nice location too – right on top the canal.
Tried TWG just once at ION, and I loved the macaroons.
High Society has an inviting decor. Love the checkerboard floors.
There are the celebrity chef restaurants that will burn a hole in your pocket.
But, I quite like the food court, Rasapura.
A new gadget store.
The Wright Gift store that’s at ION as well. Liked the Teddy Bear on top of the authentic airline food carts.
Used to be impossible to find a Banana Republic, but now there’s one at Paragon and here at Marina Bay Sands. I don’t think the prices are as marked up in the US. Here it’s like Banana Republic is designer wear when it’s actually casual wear I think.
Banana Republic (I think) is still pricey in the states. I never buy anything there if it’s not on sale. But it’s not as pricey as J Crew.
Wow I had no idea…I always imagined J Crew was cheaper. We don’t have a J Crew store here though.
Definitely seems more expensive here. I managed to buy some clothes at Banana Republic when I was still a poor student in US! I was so happy when I heard they were going to open in Singapore, but now I basically ignore their existence. They say Massimo Dutti is cheap in Italy too and that the Italians think of it as how we would think of G2000, but here the stuff is marked up.
I love the unique location of this TWG store! What would make it even cooler would be see through glass floors! But I guess they can’t do that because the people in the sampan would look up!
Hahah I thought the see through thing would be nice too….till I thought about what the sampan people would see…..funny 😉
I do like the designs at Massimo Dutti but it’s so snooty and atas here.
BR in Singapore is about double what it costs in the US. The amazing sale they’ve got right now is the only time I buy stuff from them in Singapore, otherwise I just wait till I head back to the US.
Also in the US, BR has sale racks all year long. Most stores do, actually. None of this big-sale-once-a-year nonsense. 😉
So crazy huh? Yeah the prices here are way out of my range. Most of the clothes that I like were bought when I was on holiday….much cheaper too.
BR and J. Crew (my favorites) also have outlet store where you can buy overstock and direct-from-the-factory samples for a pittance. I hate, hate, hate shopping in Singapore. Everything is marked up at least 100%.
Do many people go on that sampan thing? It seems like a blatant copy of the venetian in Las Vegas.
Yeah I always see at least one sampan out there. It is actually….but since they are both owned by Sands I guess they thought just do a version of what they already have?
