We don’t have mountains in Singapore, but I’m happy that we have hills even if they are just 60 metres high like this one. Did you know that this place was known as Bukit Larangan? It means “Forbidden Hill” in Malay. All this was pre Sir Stamford Raffles finding this strategically located island we now live in.
Among the leafy wonders, I was most fascinated by the Kapok, which is the tree with thorns. Never seen anything like it before. Reminded me of the thorns you find on a durian.
I love it that we have such nice parks right in the heart of town. It’s a pity that despite the proximity, it feels pretty deserted most of the time.
I kinda like that it’s deserted, although I guess it won’t be safe if you’re alone.
