Haji Lane is a place you’ll fall for. It’s a haven where you won’t get shoved in a crowd, pushy sales people hovering over you, and mind numbing chain stores. It’s like a splash of colour in a country people thought was devoid of creativity. And a breath of fresh air – literally. When I was exploring the place that has achieved NY Times fame, there was one thing I noticed. Each store I entered had a different sweet scent and the cool air was so refreshing after sweating out in the hot sun. The store owners welcomed you and then retreated to the back, leaving you in total peace to browse. There was no compulsion for you to buy anything either. It was like a shopping oasis. The clothing, accessories and stationary were all so unique as well. It was especially memorable exploring the little back allies with my cousins.
If you come here, the people you come across are all young, hip and fashionable. A great place to people watch.
The dresses and shoes were all reasonably priced and totally unique.
And there are pretty little cafes where you can people watch while having a drink or gelato.
The store interiors were all so pretty and full of vintage charm. So much detail to take in that even if you come back time after time, there’s always something new to see.
The Passion fruit sorbet is great for a guilt free indulgence.
Or you could go for one of the unique flavours at Pluck which is both a fashion emporium and an ice-cream parlour. I tried Earl Grey Tea gelato and am yearning to also try the salted caramel and blueberry cheesecake.
What I loved the most was all that creativity from the store front to the interiors. You could tell that there was love and care put into every detail at the stores.
There are usually hardly any vehicles going by as the roads as so narrow. We even witnessed a bit of drama over a van that couldn’t get through because a car was parked on the side. The whole vibe of the place reminded my cousin of New York’s fashion district with the little boutique stores and narrow lanes.
Thanks for sharing that NY times article. It answered my “what’s that blogshop all about?” question, without having to awkwardly ask the retail staff.
So glad you found it useful 🙂 I need to go back to the area and do more exploring….I still haven’t been inside many of the shops.
I haven’t been to Haji lane yet. Didn’t realize it was actually so charming! =)
me neither….it was such a lovely surprise 🙂

It is Cheryl…I need to revisit one day 🙂 Thanks for dropping by the blog.
Hey what prices do the itens range from in each shop?
no idea…just a diary blogger…..but I guess the prices are probably reasonable as I see teenagers shopping there…probably within S$30 for a top I imagine?
