If you’re hankering for a meal under S$8 but in an air-conditioned environment with a plesant ambience, I think Manpuku would be a good choice. It’s located at Tampines 1, has a lovely decor and the food has a certain standard too. It’s why we keep coming back. I’ve been to fake Japanese food courts in Singapore where the ventilation is poor, food really sucks and is totally unauthentic (like the one at North Point in Yishun), so in comparison, this Japanese Food Court is miles ahead.
I love that the designer used different shades of wood (blonde, cherry, dark), and I recognize the Ikea furniture which is used to furnish quite a number of new cafes in Singapore these days.
Lighting makes all the difference as well.
The Omu rice was so yummy. Rice cooked in ketchup wrapped in the fluffiest omlette (it’s not cooked for too long so that it’s still moist and not dry). I love the Japanese take on western food that’s been tweaked to suit Japanese taste buds.
You could opt for just tomato based sauce, but I decided to go for the both tomato and cream version.
B has steaming hot stone rice.
Place your order and wait about 5 minutes to pick it up.
Looks cool!
thanks….have you been there?
Love the decor!! <3
The sushi roll lamp above the counter is just too cute!!
For me food is often not just taste but ambience as well 🙂 Although there are some spartan, stuffy coffeeshops I would revisit over and over because the food is just that good.
Wow, now you have me hooked.
Thanks Roger 🙂
