Honeycomb Ice Cream at Cold Rock

There used to be a time when we had to travel all the way to Australia to get a honeycomb ice-cream or anything with honeycomb in it.  No more.  I was excited to discover a Cold Rock Ice Creamery at The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands.  It’s just above Rasapura, near the Crocs store, so you can’t miss it.

I added violet crumble to the already sweet concoction.  I was going a bit honeycomb crazy but it was so darn good.

These days I think you can get a violet crumble bar (it’s a honeycomb car coated in chocolate) at supermarkets like Mustafa in Little India.

Honeycomb has the airy, melt in your mouth texture of candy floss, but it’s harder and more compact. That’s how I would describe this delightful concoction.

I absolutely adored the cobalt blue plastic chairs at this store.  Pretty huh?

So many lovely flavours to chose from, but I have a strong feeling I’ll go for honeycomb again the next time.

The little store has a lovely inviting design and it’s a good place to rest your feet as Marina Bay Sands is a really huge place and you might get tired if you’re here shopping till you’re dropping. I saw a number of tourists taking a break here.

An apt location – just above the skating rink.

My only critique – most places provide free water, but this one didn’t. Ice Cream usually makes you so thirsty somehow.

Also I just discovered that they have outlets in Holland Village as well as 313 Somerset. Feels like I’ve been living under a rock (no pun intended) as I think this place has been around for 2 years. Maybe I passed by, but never thought it was an authentic chain from Queensland so gave it a miss.

Hey you can try making your own. It’s surprisingly simple and I was shocked when I found out. Baking soda and golden syrup….

is there a difference between violet crumble and crunchie other than brand?

thanks for your question ay 🙂

Violet Crumble is by Nestle and Crunchie by Cadbury. I’ve only tried the former, but from leading from your question I did a search and found a raging debate about this online. Makes me want to try a bite of each at one go 😉
