My blog traffic doubled in December 2010 and has since remained consistent. I am quite happy to have about 800 unique visitors a day.
Just logging this down so that I have a record of how the blog is doing, because it really does feel like my baby. Also one day I may embark on a different project that’s offline and may not have as much time to update this online or as frequently as I’m doing now. Sometimes I even go on an addictive blog binge where I post way too much and hope the reader will forgive me for the numerous typos and unimaginative vocabulary. Both writing and reading can be pretty addictive activities to me but I need to slow down and work on quality. Some re-editing of old posts is in order and I may just work on that some day, when I run out of photos to post.
Each post takes about 30 minutes to an hour at most. How long do you spend on each post? Although the posts I am most satisfied with, are the introspective ones I take a whole day writing and re-writing. The ones where I hesitate to hit the publish button.
You’ve gained at least one new subscriber today. 😀 I’m looking forward to your future posts, even if they are written during one of your blog binges.
Wow thanks so much bittersweet 🙂 this really makes my day
Great questions! Research (visit to a gallery, interview w/ an artist, etc.) and photography: 1 hour to 8 hours. Writing (+ formatting, Photoshop, graphics work): 30 minutes to 4 hours.
You can truly see the work that goes behind your posts. Each post is so well researched and I really admire that 🙂 You show me a new artsy side of Singapore that I wasn’t aware of till I started following your blog.
Oh yes I forgot about the visiting of new places and photographing part…that and editing and uploading the photos take quite a bulk of my time. I was toying with adding a watermark but it took me too long so I have abandoned it for now.
Aw, thanks for reading. It really means a lot to me. I learn tons about Singapore–our adopted home–from you, too.
I love the variety of your posts–it’s fun to see what you are writing about–a Singapore eatery, or Hollywood kids or a great blogger you’ve found for us.
Some of my posts can take days to write as I am diligent about being thorough with research. I have several that I still have “in the works” that I’ve been working on for weeks. My recipes can take days, as I like to make the recipe more than once to make sure I’ve gotten everything right.
I truly appreciate how much research goes into your posts and you’re a great influence on many people. I trust your judgement as you’re an expert. I now think twice about certain things because I have read about it on your blog.
I am so glad you like the celeb posts as well. I am to consciously pry myself away from reading gossip blogs but always cave in.
Writing each post is getting way too ponderous for me…I need to find a way to speed it up. Love how you manage to post and post and post. Wish I could do that!
Sometimes I am just in the mood for it. It also helps when you don’t try to make it too perfect and hit publish – warts and all. I figure that most readers just skim the post or look at the photos. I only correct glaring typos when I spot them. Although just for myself…I would love to one day go back to old posts and just re-edit for the love of the written word.
Binge or no binge, it’s my daily indulgence (Not a secret) 😉 Thanks for travelling for me 😀
it’s a total pleasure to blog/ write….I feel the same way 🙂
I go on a blog binge at times too… I spend an average of 45mins to 1.5hours to do up a proper post at times. Of course, when words fail me, I just picture dump ;(
I am quite dependent on the picture dumping 😉 as they say a picture says a thousand words.
Anything from two minutes like proudly sharing my Bejeweled score *.* to years like the recent stuff on Singapore, written on and off since 2006!
thanks for coming by…..your blog looks interesting 🙂
