Joe Wong who looks more like a scientist than a comedian, is brilliant at the Radio Television Correspondents’ Association (RTCA) Dinner in Washington. I think this video is going viral already. My sister just sent it to me and I had to share.

I only wonder why some in the audience seemed hesitant to laugh. Joe Biden on the other hand, has a great sense of humour.
The moments that people are most uncomfortable are the ethnic jokes. They’re funny, but they’re not pc, so sometimes people aren’t sure if they’re allowed to laugh, especially if they aren’t a member of the ethnicity being made fun of.
I loved the Massachusetts/Scott Brown jokes. As a MA native, I snickered.
Very funny 🙂
ok that added some clarity 🙂 No wonder they looked uncomfortable.
In many ways Singapore is very un-pc. Some of the things people in positions of power say would probably make you gasp…loads of sexist stuff.
That was funny! Thanks for the laugh. Not sure why some people didn’t laugh – perhaps they didn’t get it? Some people don’t get that kind of humour very well.
Crystal explained that perhaps they were afraid to laugh as it might be construed as un-pc as they belong to another ethnic group.
It was refreshing to see an Asian comedian out there. When I first saw the screenshot I thought boring…who is this scientist guy? Boy was I wrong.
Okay, that’s a good reason. It’s not like that so much in Australia and NZ, which is where I am from. We would laugh. There are quite a few non-caucasian comedians in Australia who make jokes about ethnicity and so on. I don’t think that a caucasian could get away with it but a person from an ethnic minority usually would.
The person belonging to the minority can laugh, and persons also belonging to that minority can laugh.
When a white person laughs at a joke about a black person in the US, they are often scared of being labeled as insensitive and racist.
Personally, it’s why I love the song “Everyone’s a little bit racist” from Avenue Q…one of the most innapropriate and awesome musicals ever done.
hey I saw that clip too 🙂 a friend of mine loves Avenue Q.
