Read bad reviews and raves at the food site Hungry Go Where. The raves were by the British expats. I decided to take the word of the expats like Laura, because who would know British cuisine better and be able to judge it fairly, than expats from the UK? Our most famous local foodie at Makansutra also gave the place 6 chopsticks which is full marks.
The meal was expensive for over S$20 per person (maybe that’s why some reviewers were not too pleased and made a comparison with hawker centre fish and chips) including a drink, but the fish was so fresh and good. Or perhaps the reviewers had the dory instead? Maybe next time I’ll try the dory which is more in our price range. Even the chips that some criticized as soggy, were oily yummy goodness to me – I finished every last one. The best part – there were so many sauces. Chilli, Tomato, Malted Vinegar and course salt. I liberally laid it on. Here’s a look at the full menu and I regret not trying the battered mars, but I was really too full aleady as the portion size of the fish and chips, was pretty generous.
Should have taken another photo showing how good the cod within looked – but I was too greedy, polishing it off. Loved that it came wrapped simply in white paper just like how I recall getting it in Australia years ago.
You pay first and then you get a tag as you wait for your number to get called while you have a seat.
The green mushy peas were not to shabby either.

Glad you enjoyed it and yes I forgot to tell you about the battered mars bar! My first ever one was tried here and it was so good, though I had to share it as it was very rich. You should go back at some stage and try it!
Seen the fried mars bars before at another shop called Chippys, but haven’t tried it yet. I do love mars 🙂
Oh my goodness, wow! As a fish and chip fan, now that makes me rejoiced with the fact that there is a fish and chip shop worth checking out in Singapore. 🙂
glad you like the review 🙂
Looks just like home! Yummy!
great that you think so too Judith 🙂 I like getting confirmation that it’s authentic from those who know the real stuff.
Urgh!!! Hahaha…I’m amazed that this is authentic british fish and chips, but yes only they have the right to say so. Glad you enjoyed it. I had the cod too but I preferred the partner’s dory. I hear they now have 3 branches, so that means somebody is eating there.
your review makes me want to try the dory too…and the price is more up my street 🙂
