National Museum of Singapore: Masterpieces from the Musee d’Orsay, Paris (Part 3 of 6)

Now that I am looking at the photos of the art as I upload them, they still seem so enticing to me. It makes me want to go through them all over again. I think each time I will discover a new detail that will thrill me.

Sombre colours in this serious family potrait.

I noticed the little girl staring adoringly up at her father, the painter, in this one.

The power of photography.

Industrialization and how it affected the rural landscape.

The stark outlines on this painting made it stand out.

From Work to Leisure. Something close to my heart.

This was my favourite of all the paintings. I could see the glare of the sun. It was just beyond amazing how light is captured in this one.

It is of a young woman on the jetty.

This needs to be viewed from the the bench for the full effect. When you go up close you see the brush strokes and when you stand back all you see is the brilliant capture of the light. Call me swakoo, but I was just beyond amazed.

Live Art? Just part of the children’s tour. There was performance art going on. Although I have to confess I found children running about quite disruptive (sorry, I’m an old grouch when it comes to museums and libraries) and it was also very crowded with the many guided groups. Oh for a bit of solitude, this lady seems to say. An oasis of calm in the midst of the storm. Perhaps the time slot should have been blocked out for just the kids. Well, yet another excuse for me to revisit.

Due to the dimness of the light, the photo took on this strange effect, which I kinda liked.
