After this recent trip, it was confirmed again. The food I crave for is always wan tan mee. For most people it seems to be chicken rice or hokkien mee but not for me. I love wan tan mee, especially the noodles. It’s the spicy noodles that I crave for and I like the boiled dumplings too. I don’t really crave for the char siew as I am a carb person. A few days later I started craving for prata. What food do you crave for after a long trip where you can’t get the food you usually eat?
But on the other hand, I missed the American style breakfast at the hotel and was craving for crossaints, scambled eggs and bacon.
Another thing I noticed was that I realize how oily our Asian food is whenever I return from some place out of Asia. Definitely not too healthy and what we eat is mostly carbs.
I crave for Bak Chor Mee!!! There is just too much to eat in Singapore and even after 1 month, I feel like I haven’t ate all my fave foods yet – Kway Chap, Wanton Mee, Char Kway Teow, etc…
Food that I miss back in Geneva.. hmm.. fresh pastas and salads. I miss whipping up a simple rocket salad and dressing it with creamy balsamic vinegar.
The salads must be much fresher there huh? How is it different from what we get at the supermarket?
I had Bak Chor Mee too …..the day after Wan Tan Mee 😉 I think I have a noodle craving more than a rice craving. But I can survive on bread for quite a while.
I love wantan mee too – soupy or dry 白的不要油, “zeng” wantan i.e. no char siew from the nice uncle and auntie at the corner stall at Amoy 🙂 But I’ve decided the first thing I’ll have when I go back next year is mixed vege rice from the coffeeshop downstairs!
I do love Hainanese Curry Rice as well 🙂 We are spoiled in Singapore with sooo many choices. And all good.
