If you’re intending to decorate your house for CNY, the Chinatown bazaar seems to have the lowest prices. But I guess for something unique you could go to the other countries in Asia where the festival is celebrated as well, like Vietnam, Taiwan or China. I thought these paper dragons in Chinatown were pretty innocent looking.

Most shops when you enter, all you see is red which is an auspicious colour in Chinese culture. I quite like the variations in pink as well. Lots of gold too.

Every year there will be a stuff toy version of the zodiac animal of the year. I like the dazed look on this dragon.

These are based on more traditional drawings. I’m told some of these patterns that the decorations are based on were found in ancient China preserved in the Forbidden City in Beijing.

Cushion and tissue box covers are also sold everywhere. This year there’s this rose patterned cushion cover in a variety of colours but I think pink looks best.

Just in front of Chinatown Complex which holds the market and hawker centre. The whole place is really old and in need of an upgrade. I wish they would at least upgrade the escalators. I am super lazy and hate climbing up stairs.

Last year’s pillow cover was red with a gold rabbit on it. I’m pretty sad that there was no equivalent with a dragon on it for this year.
We also bought that dragons on a boat decoration. I love buying decorations for chinese new year…and I’m a huge dragon fan so I went a little out of control this year.
