This little pink dancing lion was just the sweetest thing.
Kids can stage their own lion dance performance a bit like the puppeteer show in ‘The Sound of Music’.
And very expensive gold plated dragons. I think the price tag indicated above a thousand Singapore dollars.
The window display at British India.
A more interesting one at the branded rubber slipper store. Always felt that it’s the same quality as the ones we used to get for a few dollars at the market. You just pay more for the colours.
But the main attraction here is the annual Chinese New Year Food Fair at the basement, just outside the Takashimaya Food Hall.
Many of the stall were selling cookies right out of the oven and I think that’s a great idea.
Pretty Japanese candies.
Nothing unique about these mandarin oranges, but I liked the pink box.
More freshly made CNY goodies.
The stalls at the very end selling decorations and ang pow packets.
I am not really into these layered cakes although some of my family members are big fans.
The word fish sounds like abundance so that’s why it’s considered lucky and good to have as part of the decorations.
Cloth CNY Cards.
Unique cloth ang pow packets that cost a whopping S$6 each.
Cloth cuttings.
I thought the goat was the prettiest zodiac sign. You can stick these on your door for instance.
Looks like you’ve been going around Singapore to take in the sights! Wish I had more time to do so but my baking classes keep me on my feet all day that I don’t want to stand/walk more after lessons.
I can totally understand. Being on your feet all day must be tiring. I always need to sit every chance I get. I am pretty lazy 😉
