The Taj Mahal

The framed view of the Taj was impressive. But I guess I have just seen too many photos of it to be truly awed. But I am glad I got to see one of the seven wonders of the World.

What ruined it for me were the massive crowds and our guide pushed us through too fast and we felt like sheep being herded. It felt the same way in Versaille France and there we had to queue in the blazing hot sun for 2 hours. A lot of pushing and shoving going on so I guess that’s why people try to go very early at sunrise to avoid all this. It was the Republic Day holiday and closer to 11am so I guess we should have expected it. The ride here was also pretty harrowing. Took the auto and breathed in all the fumes. But in a way it felt like a roller coaster ride and thinking back it was fun to come so close to buffalos that their faces were almost on your lap. But it was scary when we were repeatedly told to be very careful and that there were pickpockets. But at the end of it all I don’t think the people would steal.

the taj mahal is the ultimate symbol of eternal love. that is how my mom has described this to me when i was learning about this in my primary years at school. i would love to visit the taj one of these days.

i think your visit was crowdy 😉 still, i envy you because you’ve been there.

LOVED the Taj. I actually made a visit there conditional upon my agreement to do bombay. But I get what you mean about the crowds

I only went to Bombay for a day I think many many years ago. It was so polluted I had to cover my face with a handkerchief. I felt like I was choking. But I am sure it has improved since then. I hope.
