The Former Scotts Shopping Centre is now Scotts Square (My Directory Picks)

What I liked best at Scotts Square were the eateries and that it was pretty empty when I was there. It’s not as swanky or as huge as ION but my favourite feature was the colourful blown glass fixture from the ceiling.  I would love to come here again for the pastries at the French Cafe Maison Kayser, beside NTUC Fairprice.  There’s an epicentre here as well which is good for Apple fans like myself. Just wish a real Apple store would open in Singapore soon.  The parking rate at this little mall, is pretty high by Singapore standards, at S$6 for 2 hours on the weekend.

You can chose to buy takeaway as well. I saw a long queue and I’m not surprised as the pastries were freshly baked and enticing. Worlds apart from the stale dry crossaint I had at Tully’s some time ago. Prices are steep though. This is quite an atas mall.

Pastries were freshly baked and very good in my opinion, although my partner was not as impressed.

My Cafe Au Lait was ok but it cost S$6.70 for this small cup.

I really thought this glass blown thingy was spectacular. I like eye catching displays and unique fixtures in malls.

There were some very interesting and new cafes and restaurants here. It’s always refreshing to find places that are not part of a chain.

There’s Crystal Jade as well for those who like the familiar.

Quite a number of exclusive clothing stores as well that I am sure will appeal to those who like fashion and shopping.

Just outside the new Scotts Square which took ages to be built. Years in fact which is never the case in Singapore. I think there must have been some kind of dispute or something, but I’m glad it’s up now. Can’t help missing the variety and more affordable prices found at the old food court Picnics though. It was very much part of our 90’s existence.

Based on my tastes and reviews I liked by Singapore bloggers, here is my pick of the directory of shops and restaurants.

Maison Kayser 1
Maison Kayser 2
Wild Honey

I guess Crystal Jade would be a good place to come with a big group of at least eight and when you’re hankering for a full course Cantonese meal.

And here’s a good article about the Japanese restaurants here I want to try. I especially like Japanese Western so I want to try La Luna Rossa.

  7. I had no idea the place was open… would have remained clueless if not for your blog ;)) Used to work in SportsGirl at the former building- precious memories. Even walked around the empty building before it was completed closed….

I lived in Scott’s at the Ascott in 1997 before moving to Alexandra Park, then moved to the states. I just returned for a visit after probably 14-15 years, didn’t realize it had been demolished, and felt like a complete idiot walking in the area and not being able to tell my now college age daughter where we had lived “I thought it was next to Tang’s but it’s not here.” She must have thought I was losing my mind!

Yes so many changes in Singapore.
