I know this place has a huge mark-up as I’ve been told, but I can’t help but like it. I am quite fond of the tea here. Also the decor makes me think, this is what a tea Salon in Paris must be like. The service can be snooty but this time I actually had good service. Try this branch at Marina Bay Sands, but not the outlet on the bridge (er…unless they switch around the staff). This time I found the service to be welcoming and attentive. They allowed us to look at the huge telephone directory of a tea menu for ages while we made our choice. No one rushed us. Maybe I’m used to very little, but in Singapore, and in my book, that’s the mark of good service.

I was not very fond of the walnut tart (too cloyingly rich), but I loved my quiche (especially the generous bits of pumpkin in it). I do love my squash. I had a much nicer creme brulee tart the last time (at the Takashimaya branch – you can only pick from what’s available at the counter).

We tried the Voyager tea and Tea Party tea, but Tea Party is still my favourite. It has the most amazing candy scent that probably triggers off the dopamine in my brain.

My partner is not as fond of high tea as I am. Am always so happy when he agrees to sit down to tea. He prefers to dine and leave and get other things done and not linger around for too long. Maybe it’s a girl thing, because these places are often filled with female patrons. Perhaps it reminds us of the fancy tea parties we had as little girls with our make believe tea sets.
i have never been to TWG… maybe its about time since so many people raves about it..just have to find someone to go with me 🙂
It’s quite relaxing when the place is not crowded.
