Headed to Tekka for my favourite Chicken Dum Briyani. Noticed that the stall must be doing well. They have changed their signboard and I noticed. Had the usual teh alia (ginger milk tea) but this time from another stall called Mubarak Ali Kopitiam, since they had the initiative to come up and ask me what drink I wanted.
It may look messy, but every morsel of it was tasty. The only thing was the chicken used to be so soft it would fall off the bone. Not this time though. I wonder what went wrong. Found it a tad tougher than usual. Hope they get back on their A game.
A close-up of the basmati rice soaked in the goodness of the dhall (talcha) and curry mix.
The only problem is the exhaust vents near this stall that blow out hot air. It can be suffocatingly warm, so we don’t sit too close to the stall even if there’s a spare seat.
You can read about my last visit where the old signboard is featured. I think they are focusing on just briyani which is a good move. No more murtabak. I tend to trust stalls that specialize in just one item. Focus always makes things better.
So, still best Briyani in SG even though tougher then usual?
Yeah I still haven’t found a better one 😉 Everyone raves about Alahuddin which is another stall at Tekka, but I find that version a bit dry.
Ever since you wrote about it the 1st time, I’ve been wanting to take my parents there, and I still haven’t! Have you tried the Nasi Beriyani that used to be at the Tanjong Pagar Railway Station?
In the end I didn’t either. Do you know if they moved to another location?
