We both loved the laid back cosy feel at Group Therapy. If D had not alerted me, I would have totally missed the place. She saw the signboard and pointed it out to me. And I exclaimed that I had heard so much about this place that we have to check it out. The cafe itself was actually up a long flight of stairs. It’s on a second storey of the shophouse and quite spacious once you reach the top and have a glance around. Absolutely loved the high ceilings and feeling of space. It’s just above an Italian Restaurant. It was a bit stinky on the stairway – perhaps some ventilation problem, but once we reached the top we were greeted very warmly by a friendly girl. It wasn’t too crowded and we chose a cosy corner to rest. D loved the Pecan pie and I enjoyed the waffles. We appreciated all the little details like the glass the Italian Soda was served in.
Singapore is becoming really interesting. We have a whole range of eateries from the humble hawker centre to quaint cafes serving breakfast food that previously we only used to get in hotels (well at least during my time in the 70’s & 80’s). Little boutique cafes like this I hardly saw during my childhood. Only first saw them on trips abroad to Australia and found them very charming. I wonder if boutique shops owners were charmed by store like this abroad and decided to bring a bit of that charm back here. We definitely want to make a return visit.
A pretty bike was part of the lovely decor.
It’s easy to miss this place. But in a way the secret location means it’s less crowded and cosy. The lovely cafe is at 49 Duxton Road and they have a Facebook page where you can check out whether they are open or not. I noted that they are closed on Mondays and generally open after 11am. I am not a fan of Facebook at all, but for this purpose, I guess it’s good.
Just discovered they have an official website with a menu that’s tempting me big time. I am yearning to try the coffee, bagels and pies. Pancakes too. My sister and cousin would love their hot and iced chocolate drinks as they don’t drink coffee.

Just a note – they don’t do decaf coffee.
Thanks for letting us know Pam. I’ve never tried decaf before…does it taste very different?
looks interesting! I want to go too!
I think you’ll like the place 🙂
Aiyar! You should have gone today! It’s their 1st birthday today and they are giving out free coffee!
Oh shoot I missed it 😉

There are so many new places popping up and I feel like I haven’t had time to go suss them out. I think you are doing a great job of finding all these new places.
So glad you liked the post and photos 🙂 I decided to try to go to more new places rather than stick to more familiar ones.
It’s so nice to go there after a long days of work….so refreshing! I must go there someday..
