Snakes, Durian & Lanterns in Chinatown
Was exciting to spot the huge snake that has just been put up as part of the Chinese New Year Street decorations. Also the lanterns were lit tonight. It was much nicer to walk around in the cool of the … Continue reading

Arguing About Which Coffee Joint makes the Best Latte
B was insisting that Jewel makes the best coffee but I was saying that I preferred what I had at Forty Hands. But I had the iced latte at the latter, so it wasn’t a totally fair comparison. We returned … Continue reading

Liang Court: Tea at Dulcet & Studio Again
Think I’ll soon be a regular here. Love the cream puffs and it also happens to be their most popular item. The rose marble cake looked pretty but I found it too strong in terms of flavour. It was like … Continue reading

Peking Duck: Paradise Pavilion at Marina Bay Financial Centre
Had dinner with family here and it was my first time to the area. I am not a Peking duck expert by any means but I hear this is the best and authentic Beijing style. I quite like the surrounding … Continue reading
What to Eat at Maxwell Road Hawker Centre?
Everyone seems to go for the Tian Tian chicken rice and this time there was a huge queue at our usual curry rice stall. So what to eat was the conundrum. In Singapore we have the enviable ‘problem’ of so … Continue reading
New Dining Options at Bugis Plus
There are so many new options for dining. Always something new on the scene. Trying to be healthy for the New Year and bringing the latest to you through this food blogging hobby is a hard thing to do. Blogged … Continue reading
Enthralled by the Japanese New Year Celebrations at Liang Court
I love the way Liang Court does things and they confirm again and again why they remain my favourite place to hang out. I’m in love with everything Japanese so I may be a tad biased. Every time I come … Continue reading

The Quiet of Sembawang Beach
Headed towards the quiet of Sembawang beach and it felt good to walk around (although there is still renovation going on and lots of barricades up). Trying to get with the usual New Year promise that everyone makes – to … Continue reading

New Maison Kayser at Wheelock
Service here is great although it’s a bit less peaceful than the one at Scotts Square. However lazy me will probably pop by here more often as it’s closer to Orchard MRT and just at the connection between ION and … Continue reading
Thai Tantric at Orchard Towers
I read somewhere that even the staff from the Thai embassy have their lunch here so that’s quite an indication of how authentically Thai the food is. The Tom Yam fried rice was the best item at the seductively named … Continue reading

Heavy Meal at Tanglin Mall
Had to come back to Chili’s for the tangy pulled pork burgers, but we should not have ordered ribs as well. Yummy, but just way too much food. I must say it was our first time choosing mashed potatoes as … Continue reading

Walked from Tanglin Mall to Wheelock Place
Got a chance to see the Christmas street lights before they are taken down and replaced with Chinese New Year decorations. Felt better after the walk. Dinner left us feeling terribly bloated as we over ordered as usual.

Smoothest Coffee at Jewel (1 Shenton Way)
The cafe latte required no sugar at all. It was smooth with low acidity and no trace of bitterness. B is not a coffee drinker and has declared this the best coffee he’s ever had. I can’t stop hearing him … Continue reading

New Mall: Chinatown Point is Much Improved
I think the new Chinatown Point is an improvement over what it used to be, but I can’t imagine that S$90 million was spent. Where does all that money go. Seems crazy to me. And as B commented the place … Continue reading

Year of the Snake at Singapore’s Chinatown
Worked up a sweat walking through Chinatown, but it was interesting soaking in the Chinese New Year atmosphere. I saw some very well dressed tourists and wondered how they could bear the heat. It’s the year of the snake but … Continue reading

Who Puts Up Those Festive Street Decorations?
On the last day at 2012, we saw the decorations being put up at Chinatown and this week more of it seems to be up. I wonder if the same contractor does all the various festive decorations. That would be … Continue reading

My Hopes for Blog Posts in 2013
1. That I put more effort into each post – in terms of clarity, and usefulness of content (but not so much effort or perfectionism that it stops me from posting at all) 2. That no post I write feels … Continue reading
