I don’t have a fear of heights, but the escalator ride (goes up 3 levels at least) and the ship design at Stadium MRT (circle line or yellow line as I like to call it) is both impressive and vertigo inducing. It’s now made Kallang Leisure Park a cinch to get to, unless it’s pouring down. Then you’ll most likely get wet on the long footpath. Winds in Singapore, as you will discover, beat the rain sideways. I didn’t mind being sprayed by a little water, but I was annoyed by some teenaged boys in front of me whining loudly about it.
The actual covered walkway is narrow and long, but at least you get a bit of shelter. I think we’re spoilt with MRT attached underground to malls that we come to expect it. You can take a shortcut when it’s not raining and muddy.
I was absorbed by the old trees with the low hanging branches.
Good choice on the 100% orange juice. That just sounds so refreshing, healthy and delicious on a rainy day. Next stop: Coffee! 🙂

I particularly like freshly squeezed juice sold at Starbucks.
Can you believe we don’t have starbucks in Italy? All my students love the marketing and wear their shirts. How funny, huh? Everytime I see the trademark, I get an inkling for my home in California where coffee is BIG.
Jules.
Starbucks is big in Singapore…..coffee culture has invaded Asia 🙂 and I love it!
oh cool design, this is the new line right? Last time I was there, I visited my friend at upper thompson road and we used the mrt line there, and I was on the new line. Yep, when I move to Singapore, I am planning to move into the Upper Thompson area, do you think it’s a good neighbourhood? I lived on Dalvey rd (Steven’s road by YMCA) for a short while and was thinking of returning to that area, but it seems like upper thmpson has more charm…
I like the Steven’s Road area because it’s so near town! Thompson is definitely charming with all the trees. I think as long as you’re walking distance from an MRT station, you can get about anywhere.
The photograph of the station is impressive! I’ve been through several times but never actually stopped at this station. I guess tropical countries get lots and lots of torrential rain as compared to temperate countries. Also, a huge % of the population does not drive. So we need those rain shelters!!
The first time I was at this station I went “drats” because I forgot the camera. This time I am glad I got a shot although people were staring.
