Since I was last here, the shop seems to have expanded and I’m glad the owner is doing well. I like seeing authentic independent businesses thrive. I am sure that with the Tintin movie out, the interest in Tintin has been revived in Singapore.
When I was a kid in primary school they had these comics in the library, but it was mostly the boys who enjoyed them. To be honest I found them a bit too difficult to understand. I now appreciate the artwork. It’s a bit of history captured in these comics. There has been controversy due to the racism in some of the issues and I have to admit I am uncomfortable with it too, but then again it was there in my favourite Enid Blyton books as well. It was the ignorance of the times. On the other hand sometimes I feel that we can be too politically correct. So politically correct that it stifles our sense of humour. It can be really tricky.
But I digress. Was really impressed by the layout and all the figurines on display. Snowy is just so lovely.
