Singapore Politics: Why Gerald Joined the Opposition

33 year old Gerald Giam, a former civil servant and a graduate of the University of Southern California explains why he joined the Workers’ Party and how it took him a whole year to convince his family to support his decision.

See his video at Yahoo Singapore. I like what this intelligent young man, who is a father with a baby daughter, has to say:

“Do we want to go for growth at all costs?….we need an equitable growth”

“It was a process, getting to know people at WP, understanding their beliefs and values and when I interacted with them over two years, a lot of them were honest, intelligent and sincere people who placed the interest of Singaporeans ahead of themselves. I felt this is as a good team of people to work with to bring a better Singapore”
