When the Words Get Stuck

I wish I could express myself better. I would make the worst lawyer or debater. I just know from my gut instinct what is right, but I am unable to clearly argue my position. I stammer and stutter. It’s not pretty.

I find that somehow writing is so much easier. I don’t know why, but it is.

You are not the only one. I feel more comfortable and at ease with writing (if you also include typing) than speaking.

  2. I have the same problem. I find that when I speak in an exaggerated slow pace, it allows me to think about what I’m going to say and the words come out with less “umm’s” . It makes for a less dramatic argument, but sometimes it brings it down a notch if the argument is getting too heated.

It takes a lot of courage to come out clean like this. If writing comes easy, try writing down your arguments first. although it might not suit every situation to prepare your arguments in advance. btw, do you find yourself raising your voice before you hit the wall?

  4. Hey,

It’s the same with me. When I write, the words just come out freely. Sometimes when I re-read my writing, it doesn’t even feel like I had written that!

I guess speaking well requires practice, and a lot of courage, esp when I have to speak to professionals. >.< Even with my bf, I had suggested writing to each other because at the beginning I couldn't say my thoughts ( in my mind), now it's a lot better.

But just want to say that you're really good in your writing. At least you know you can process your thoughts well when you're calm.

    Writing is an enjoyment! 🙂
