Heard the planes overhead this evening, signaling the rehersals for the National Day. Saw kids in red walking in hoards as well as military tanks as we drove along the Marina area. The tanks were huge and scary. They look like they could completely flatten your car. They are probably driven by the young boys who have to serve their National Service. They could be as young as 18. The odd thing is they are not allowed to drink till 21 or to enter certain nightclubs till 23, but they are allowed to carry weapons in military service.
