The Newly Renovated Hong Lim Market

I must say the ventilation has improved and the floor tiles have been changed. It doesn’t feel as squeezy as it used to. I hear that the curry chicken noodles here and the char kway teow are famous. I actually wanted to have Nonya Dumplings, but the stall was closed, so we had a Ngor Hiang to share. It was a bunch of fried stuff that you pick like deep fried prawn crackers and fish balls and you dip them in chilli sauce. Let me be blunt. At S$7, it was expensive and not good.

The chilli was actually bitter and not sweet. And the tiny portion size disappointed me. In the end it didn’t matter.

I’ve had this laksa before, but was not impressed either. Well, maybe I’m super finicky, especially when my cravings are not satisfied or when something tastes worse than what I expected. It’s the reason why I hesitate to try new stalls and always go with the tried and tested.
