MTR: South Indian Vegetarian Place from Bangalore, in Singapore

Have been wanting to try out this new chain from Bangalore that uses only pure ghee and no reused oil.

MTR actually stands for Mavalli Tiffin Room and it’s been in operation since 1924.

I noticed that food presentation was very neat. No spillage of gravy or chutney.

For the first time after a South Indian meal I didn’t feel at all bloated. Perhaps I had eaten less too as the portions are smaller than say Singapore institution Komala Vilas. I also missed the messy generosity of the servers at the Singapore chain where they filled your plate with scoops of chutney from a bucket so you don’t need to keep asking for more like Oliver Twist.

I preferred the Masala Thosai to the Rava Thosai. And the sweet savoury Chow Chow Bath was unique and good too.

Took pictures of photos in the menu for future reference for when we make a return visit.
