Saw this at the Chinatown Market. I am a little puzzled at the picture at the very top. I figured that it means no pets and that includes dogs, cats (looks more like a pig to me) and birds? No cycling in the market as well. This just makes me picture that before this sign was up there must have been loads of elderly people cycling through the market or carrying their pet birds perched on their hands.
Another odd sign that is really gross to me and makes me question the level of hygiene in this market. Why does Singapore have such yucky signs. I also saw a do not pick your nose sign when traveling on the MRT. Yucks! It makes us seem so uncivilized.
Sigh! Since I promised to deliver the country warts and all, this is to keep up my end of the bargain. But I have to just say this again – Eeewwwwww!
The only silver lining? This is enough to completely ruin my appetite and keep me on track with my diet. Yes, I am very easily grossed out, a germaphobe like the Jerry Seinfeld character, and I hate using public toilets.
The nose picking sign is hilarious. I also like the fish market sign. “Do not carry fish in your naked armpits. Do not hit people with fish.” And why is there an octopus coming out of the toilet? Is this a common threat in Singapore? : )
it’s great to see it from your perspective 🙂
Hmmm I hate that “Do not pick your nose” ad too! It so icky. In the 1st place, I hardly see people picking their noses. The total cumulative amount of time I have seen people pick their noses amounts to like 5 or 10 minutes in my entire life? Yet sitting in that train facing that dumb ad has caused me to be faced with a nose picker for 15 minutes extra. That alone has subjected me to an extra 20 years worth of “actual” nose pickers I would have come across!
yeah these days I don’t see many nose pickers in public either. Perhaps the sign should not be on the MRT. It’s so true that the poster itself is an assault on our eyes!
What is the 3rd one down? “Do not shoot water out of your hand”? I’m assuming it’s “Do not litter”??
yeah I thought it looked real weird too…more like water than litter
Hahaha I like harlsmits’s interpretation on the fish!!!!!
