Caught Up in Election Fever

Sorry I have been tardy posting here or catching up on my favourite blogs. It’s just that this is the first time we’re having real Elections in Singapore. Well at least it’s the first time it’s felt real with 82 out of 87 seats contested. Usually it’s been all walkovers and I don’t get a chance to vote. I’ve only voted once in the General Elections, but come May 7th, I get my second chance.

Will be back here after May 7. Meanwhile I post on my other blog, Singapore Actually. Never been interested in politics, because I always felt my voice wouldn’t be heard anyway, But this time I am totally caught up in the excitement of it all. So this is what it must feel like in other countries when voting time comes along.

I look forward to reading your posts on the Election. I’m trying my best to keep in touch with the election fever and thankfully twitter posts keep me rather up to date with what’s going on for the internet access is really slow here.

Seems like an exciting time for Singapore, wished I was back to part-take in this big event.

yeah it’s soo exciting Lady J, and I hope after may 7th the euphoria doesn’t die out. Feels as exciting as when USA got their first black president.

  3. Your voice IS heard when you vote. Many here in the US take voting for granted and it’s a shame. Be proud that you are involved!

We just had a federal election on Monday. We’ve had so many elections in the past few years, it’s hard to get enthusiastic about the process. This one provided a little spurt of excitement toward the end of the campaign, but it was still a big yawn for me. My husband loves politics, though, and he was really into it. Opposites attract, I suppose!
