We were supposed to walk to Ann Siang Hill, but we kinda overshot and reached Duxton Hill. But it wasn’t a wasted stroll. Saw two brand new stores that I’ve never set eyes on before.
Pho Stop which is a Vietnamese Cafe looked interesting. It’s at 21 Tanjong Pagar Road and I found the facebook page.
We walked too far and across the road was Duxton Hill. So we turned back.
There was this attractive lomography store along the way – 295 South Bridge Road. I had no idea what lomography is and wondered if it was a type of polaroid. But it isn’t. It’s a store based in Austria and basically the cameras are similar to what I used myself in the 80’s and 90’s before digital photography replaced film. It’s built on the concept that lo definition and out of focus, is not necessarily bad. It can be art.
It’s a kind of nostalgia hipster store where everything retro is now cooler than cool. It’s embracing the art of photography. The cameras themselves seem like works of art and the owners were the kind of store owners I like. Totally left us alone to browse at ease. Nice.
There’s a wonderful guide that will answer all your questions about lomography. I now have a better idea about what it’s all about.
hot waiters at Pho Stop but food is mediocre.
Thanks for the info 🙂
