Absolutely love this new cafe D discovered at Craig Road which is near the very hip Duxton Hill. Adore the name too – Selfish Gene Cafe. The prices are good and the cafe is spacious and totally unpretentious – I like. It was nice that it was not too crowded and perhaps it’s because it’s still a secret and I’m not helping matters by blogging about it, but oh well, it’s good to share sweet discoveries.
And the owner is not selfish at all. He just won’t serve what he wouldn’t eat himself and that’s something I would probably do as well.
The piccolo latte (S$4.80) was lovely and I liked the prices. The brioche and berry compote (S$4.80) I had here was just as good as what I had at Wild Honey and the service here a whole lot better. Unobtrusive and very polite. The menu is pretty extensive too, so you’ll be perusing it for quite a bit.
Loved that there was a section of reading materials for the solo cafe hopper.
It’s actually quite a big space.
We walked here from Tanjong Pagar MRT station but I wonder if Outram Station is nearer.
I absolutely love the cement floors.
I am eager to return, but I have to remember that it’s closed on Tuesdays and open during office hours from 10am to 6pm. Guess I’ll just check their Facebook page to make sure they are open so I won’t be disappointed.
i’ve been wanting to go there and after your rave review, I should.
I really liked the vibe there 🙂 The prices were good too.
