Lunch Buffet at Rise (Marina Bay Sands Hotel) – Part 3 of 3

All of all the sweet things at the dessert counter I was most impressed by the marshmellows. They were a special kind and seemed to be already toasted and coated with a kind of icing sugar. Am not sure how they made them, but they were so good. The quality of the melted chocolate was really good too. Much better than what I’ve had at other buffets with a similar station. Sorry, I went overboard with the marshmellow and chocolate photos. Grapes coated in chocolate looked fantastic but tasted a bit weird. It’s an odd combination I think.

My companion mentioned that the lemon tartlets were lovely, but by the time I went back to the counter I missed them. Was too stuffed to have fruit either, although they had passionfruit which looked good. Something sour to counter the sweet. Although my companion mentioned they were too sour.

You must have the creme brulee of course.

The bread and butter pudding with vanilla sauce was lovely too.

There was chocolate pudding which was good, as well as all sorts of cake which I usually find too rich to try.

The pineapple tart looked good, but of course no match for homemade buttery ones filled with fresh pineapple jam rather than the commerical ones.

There was almond jelly with longan and all kind of Nonya kueh as well. Since I’m local I didn’t try these as they are quite common, but if you’re a tourist you should give these a go. Although my companion mentioned that the kueh is not as good (richer in coconut and more fragrant) as the ones sold at places like Begawan Solo which specializes in these desserts.

The mango in the little tartlet was good. It was encased in a ice cream cone textured shell that got a little bit soggy. I didn’t really like the mousse filling, but then again I don’t care for mousse.

There were oatmeal and chocolate cookies too but I was sadly too stuffed by then.

This was a wonderful lunch and I must say the items were all very high quality – both the savoury and the sweet. I would definitely look forward to returning. If you drive here, don’t forget to ask for a complimentary carpark coupon. It’s valid for 6 hours of free parking. Our parking charges would have come up to a crazy S$16 otherwise.

I’m considering staying at this hotel during my trip to Singapore. I remember they were building it when I was there last year. What do you think about the rooms and hotel staff?

Enjoyed the photos! The buffet looks delicious.

I haven’t seen the rooms, but the hotel staff seemed polite and professional when I was there for dining and visiting of the Skypark. It’s one of the swankiest places to stay in Singapore, besides the Regis, Ritz Carlton and Shangri-la Hotel. It’s the newest and I just love the amazing architecture here. The best part is having a humongous mall that connects to the hotel so there no need to go out and brave the humidity.

I am so glad you liked the photos! 🙂

Have you been up to the pool yet?

Forgive me if you’ve already written about the pool. I haven’t had a chance to look through your archives since I am still packing.

By the way, one of my favorite places in Singapore were the Chinese Gardens.
